There will
not be a JOINT reunion with the USS Conway in 2024. The USS Conway members
already had their solo 2024 reunion planned for Buffalo, NY. We DO plan to have
a JOINT reunion with the USS Conway in 2025.
At the
joint 2023 SPERRY/CONWAY Reunion in Albuquerque, NM, the USS Charles S. Sperry
members voted to go to Asheville, NC to take in the beautiful Biltmore Estate.
The Clarion Inn Asheville Airport will host our reunion.

GROUP
EVENTS:
Our
day trip to The Biltmore Estate on Monday, April 29th, will be a “Not to Be
Missed” event. Nestled in the Blue Ridge
Mountains this 8000-acre property is a one-of-a-kind destination. While at The Biltmore you can tour the
magnificent house, take in all that nature has to offer in the Gardens, view
the spectacular art exhibition, have a wine tasting at the award-winning
winery, have lunch at one of the many dining options and shop, of course, shop
at a variety of shops and artisans at Antler Hill Village along with a live
working farm. Our tour bus will bring us
to each of these areas during the day.
We
have a trip planned to Veterans Restoration Quarters on Tuesday, April
30th. www.abccm.org. This
is a residential program for Veterans experiencing homelessness. They work to provide each Veteran with
stability, personal skill training, educational and training opportunities
leading to employment and housing along with the restoration of personal
dignity, faith and strength. This
mission relies on donations of needed items for its residents.
We
would like to present them with a group care package when we go. If you would like to bring an “item of need”
to put in the care package, please go to www.abccm.org and click on Veterans Restoration Quarters
and scroll down to the “Most Needed Donations” (such as jeans, undershirts,
shampoo, deodorant, antifungal foot cream, etc.) and “Ongoing Needs.” Thank you
in Advance!
They
are donating wheelchairs and walkers to any of our shipmates or guests that
need them during our reunion. The VRQ is home to
American Legion Post 526, the only American Legion post located in a facility
for homeless veterans.
Please
remember to bring items to donate for our Silent Auction. We have lots of fun things planned for
Tuesday Night’s Fun and Games.
We hope
that you will join us for a great time. As noted above, wheelchairs CAN be
available at no cost for use during the reunion, and there is a place on the
registration form for requests of wheelchairs to be made.

We do not have a large room block and this hotel regularly books up
in advance, so BOOK YOUR ROOM NOW!
If necessary, you have until two days before the reunion to cancel the
reservation, but if you wait, you may not get a room. PLEASE PRE-REGISTER ASAP,
BUT BEFORE THE MARCH 28, 2024 REGISTRATION DEADLINE.

Clarion Inn Asheville Airport hotel is just a short distance from Asheville
Regional Airport (AVL). There is a complementary
hotel shuttle. Cabs and car rentals are available from the airport, as well.
